http://www.mhra.gov.uk/NewsCentre/CON068470Reductil is a prescription drug approved by the FDA and the European Union. It is used for weight loss and works as an appetite suppressant. For the best results, you are advised to take Reductil with a reduced calorie diet and moderate physical exercise. Reductil is developed by the German pharmaceutical company Knoll, which was later absorbed by Abbott Laboratories.
Reductil is a neurotransmitter reuptake inhibitor and maintains the levels of serotonin and norepinephrine, the balance of natural chemicals in the brain. The active ingredient in Reductil is a substance called sibutramine, which directly targets these chemicals in nerve cells, preventing them from being reabsorbed back into the cells. As a result, a feeling of fullness in the stomach is sent back to the brain. There is a lesser desire to consume food which decreases your calorie intake and consequently, leads to significant weight loss.
In clinical trials, 6000 patients suffering from overweight and obesity issues were given Reductil and placebo treatments to measure the efficacy of Reductil. At the end of the trial after a year, the safety as well as the efficiency of Reductil was demonstrated in the double-blind, placebo-controlled trials. Reductil was found effective and well tolerated in clinical trials.
If you are overweight or have a body mass index of 30 or more - 27 or more if you are suffering from associated health problems such as type 2 diabetes, or high blood pressure - you may be eligible for a prescription for Reductil. You can also obtain a prescription for Reductil online.
Reductil comes in 2 dosage strengths: 10mg and 15mg. You can take Reductil once a day with or without food. Your doctor should decide the dosage and the treatment duration. In any case, Reductil should not be taken for more than a year.
